only gonna get worse...take some action...
mf8/1/2006 1:55:16 pm
bah, i dun need no propaganda, just some ice water and a klondike bar.
Al8/1/2006 3:31:22 pm
This planet goes through cycles that take thousands of years to complete. We are very un-knowledgeable about the universe and our own planet. But, as people we do have to stop the madness and quit driving our cars and buying things. Lets all lay down and die in the smoltering heat and then starve to death. That should solve everything.
eN-Titty8/1/2006 4:06:54 pm
don't know if it will solve anything but it does sound like a best selling diet! You'll make tons of money.
trin8/1/2006 4:10:24 pm
great
mf8/1/2006 4:34:36 pm
naranjon8/1/2006 6:08:29 pm
whats happening now is way out of line with any "cycle" dude...dont believe the misinformation, who has anything to gain from cutting down on emissions??? who has TONS of $$$$$$ to gain from making us believe its "natural" for the planet to be melting and keep us driving and wasting and burning and not giving a damn? GREED...were fucked unless we do something, unless you really dont give a fuck about your kids or your kids kids...http://whyfiles.org/218glo_warm/images/variations.jpg

for every action, there is a reaction:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/2784227.stm

"He predicts that one synthetic tree could remove 90,000 tonnes of CO2 in a year - the emissions equivalent of 15,000 cars."

a swarm of these suckers removes 4,000 tonnes of co2 a day http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salps

the thing about doing something is - if you dont know what you're doin, you may make things worse.

yeah thats also an analogy to current us "foreign policies."
mf8/1/2006 9:54:20 pm
yeah, well, we all make mistakes. i still want my klondike bar dangit
HALE8/2/2006 12:44:16 pm
I'm sorry our president is a complete toolbag, even though he is just a part of the problem
mf8/2/2006 1:40:42 pm
ah, is he the tool, or are we?...hmmm
HALE8/2/2006 1:52:56 pm
I am absoultely certain he is a toolbag.
Al8/2/2006 3:19:55 pm
George Bush has nothing to do with the environment. This bullshit has been going on before most of us were born. We would have to re-structure the entire U.S. What would people do for work? Manufacturing? No, that destroys the planet. So, how do we fix this? Just DIE. Yes, that is the answer.
naranjon8/2/2006 9:54:59 pm
bush didnt put us where we are but fuck if he's not only not doing anything, but actually making shit worse...http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2003/09/ma_494_01.html

and sure maybe 1000 or even 100 years ago, people came and people went, shit stayed the same. but damn man, wake the fuck up, we're talking totally different scales now. at the rate that technology is exploding, we're talking exponential scales. it took us how many hundreds of thousands of years to develop agriculture, then how many hundreds to go through the industrial revolution and now how many seconds is it taking for shit to make the same jumps it took us 250,000 years to make? our brains may be the same old brains we had 100,000yrs ago, but somehow we're flying around in planes, blowing up entire cities, and melting the ice caps...we're not just on for the ride anymore...we're manning the oars and it's time we took responsibility, cause whether you want to believe it or not we ARE the ones responsible.
HALE8/2/2006 10:17:00 pm
I'm not saying Bush is responsible or not responsible for anything. I'm saying he is a complete toolbag. Period. He's a funny and entertaining toolbag.
glowworm siren8/2/2006 10:39:10 pm
"cause whether you want to believe it or not we ARE the ones responsible."
its totally irrelevant who or what is responsible, if you're not into the fingerpointing business.
posting projections that go more than 100 years in the future seems like ludicrous fearmongering imho. (even if it serves a "just purpose")
they cant even say what the weathers gonna be like next week, what the climate/ surface temperature is gonna be in 2100 is probably damn near impossible. ;) secondly the very same reasons you mention (progression of the sciences) brought us here might just offer an answer ;) you cant even start to imagine the world in 2100.
mf8/3/2006 7:45:35 am
and to think, all i was sayin was it was awful hot out when i was working.
naranjon8/3/2006 8:09:07 am
i dont know if its fingerpointing when its directed at yourself...i think we're all responsible, not for where we find ourselves but for what we can do now. 100 years IS irrelevant, if we sit and wait to see what happens and hope scientists making projections are completely wrong and whoever's making a sweet buck from dumping more toxic shit into the air water and land are right...on the other hand you could see what were doing as some sort of thrice-removed extension of nature and our doings shaping a new world order of whatever species evolve to flourish in a toxic dump, but damned if we're gonna have tigers or songbirds or polar bears.
mrae8/3/2006 11:08:29 am
and in a hundred years....all new people (doin' the same stupid bullshit)
glowworm siren8/3/2006 1:02:10 pm
whoever posted that global warming link obviously struck a nerve. kinda like biting on a klondike bar. poor mf. and poor kix, i think this beat his longest comment string. if not by quality, then by mere quantity of words.
mf8/3/2006 1:26:08 pm
HA, i saw that the other day when i was catching up on a years worth of missed drawrings. and i was thinking just that. sorry kix, i dinna mean it. i just wanted some ice cream. :)
naranjon8/3/2006 2:15:33 pm
none of my "quality-deficient" comments are directed negatively to anyone on the boards (especially not mf) mostly just want to see if what im thinking makes sense at all, and maybe find out what others are thinking...i could be totally wrong/blind/stupid...anyway i enjoy reading everyone's responses.
kix8/3/2006 3:03:45 pm
brahahah... this is great. what about a clondike bar? ill draw one for you :)
kix8/3/2006 3:04:04 pm
even if i never saw one :(
glowworm siren8/3/2006 3:05:35 pm
@naranjon: fair enough. and i was mainly talking to myself, regarding lacking quality and stuff.

belive you me, no offense was taken. maybe borrowed for a spell, slightly misplaced at times, but, rest assured, never taken.
Al8/4/2006 2:39:48 pm
I agree with naranjon about the environment!! But Bush is a puppet. He cant be that smart to make an impact on anything. Secret Service probably dresses him up in the morning. And Barbara probably has to remind him to brush his teeth before bedtime.
