well, i'm having trouble finding an image of this version of the painting. there is an earlier, apparently more popular, not as interesting version without the cloth covering half of the composition. i did learn that Tiziano Vecellio is actually Titian. i will keep trying
at any rate, i first came across this in a book, "Francis Bacon and the Tradition of Art". Even if you're nor a big F. Bacon fan his taste in art is excellent and the corellation between his art and influences is fascinating. G Rapids natives can find it at the main library.
