Another episode of "The Stupid Computer Related Mistakes of Shunt"...
As I said a few draws below, I needed to buy another computer. So I did. A second hand one, but very fast. Ideal, because my sequencing program Cubase sometimes choked when playing my songs.
Cubase VST comes with a protection key which is to be connected to the printer port.
I had connected it, but Cubase didn't find it. I opened BIOS to set it all right there, but it didn't help.
I searhed the net for a solution and found an adapter wire, usb > LPT, but according to the shop owner where I wanted to order it, this wouldn't work either.
Now what...
The Steinberg website said I could order a eLicenser, and then I'd have to send them a picture with a hammer-smashed protection key, along with the eLicenser, so they could send me the install code.
That was the last thing I'd do. Should a second printer port be a good solution? Wait... I have one here at home, it's been lying around for years! I'll install that and connect the key on it!
I disconnected the key and tried it out on the loose board-with-parallel-port... It fitted!
But then I saw it. HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO INCREADIBLY IGNORANT?!? HOW COULD I NOT HAVE SEEN THAT!?
What had happened? When disconnecting the key from my old computer, one of the small screw/nut thing came loose and was still on the screw of the key, therefore I wasn't able to put the key on the printer port totally.
And that's why the port couldn't find the key.
Insert insulting/funny/etc remarks below. I deserve it.

What if 10E had some kind of message board where members could embed their tunes, some blog thing saying (member) posted a new tune or (member) made a new drawing... Could be something. Could be nothing either

Within a week, the polar shift will take place. That is, what believers say. They overlooked one very very very important detail though. The Maya's formed their calendar about 5000 years ago. Julius Caesar and a pope of whom I have forgotten the name, reformed the calendar to what it is now. Originally the year started 1st of March. Any idea where the names of September, October, November and December come from? From the latin names of seven, eight, nine and ten. July and August were first named Julius and Sextilis. So if there were added two months before the official start of the year, it was actually March in January and the polar shift would have happened in October. Am I right?
fatribz 12/14/2012 - 7:07:21 pm
we'll find out soon enough.. wait, when exactly? March? they added months? wouldn't that kinda screw up the season/month line up in a few years?
gerold blankface 12/15/2012 - 11:16:22 am
The silly part is, archeologists have found Mayan calendars that go beyond this month and many centuries into the future, but they have received almost no peas because it isn't sensational enough... And the galactic alignment? It is as common as your birthday. Polar shifts and solar flats ate indeed devastating and we are due for both.in the 2030's an asteroid will pass between us and or satellites. 7 years later, if we do nothing, it will hit us. It is solid iron and is classified as am extinction level event.i hope Bruce Willis and Ben Afflec are training now.

And what do you drawrers think what actually will happen december 21st.?
I always refer to the story of someone who went to a soothsayer to ask when he/she was going to die. After moaning and moaning some more the soothsayer told him or her a date. At that day, nothing was happening. The person committed suicide because of going bezerk.
Next week I expect nothing more than people and/or sects doing weird things because they're scared. Whatever happens, let's make an agreement we'll meet up on the other side and keep on drawring ok? ;-)

Last week the fan fell off the processor of my pc. I thought I'd solve that for once and for all by slighly expanding the four holes in the mother board, so I could put it back using plastic bolts (to avoud short circuits!!)
Unfortunately I cut some lines on the circuit board and it's all useless now.
Besides that, I bought a second hand mother board but my ram strips didn't fit in the ddr slots.
So I bought another computer (second hand) and yet I wasn't out of trouble yet. Windoze does NOT find the lan connector. When I put the wire into the slot, the leds light up but there's no connection. Just a hour ago I found out I'd switch the wireless usb connector of my ladys' pc with the wire...
Computers are fun, as long as they work
