A fault on which the two blocks slide past one another. The San Andreas Fault is an example of a right lateral fault.
mrae 5/11/2005 - 4:35:15 am
I think its my fault for not studying more sooner:) Al you Rock!!!!! (pun intended) it does look like a lateral fault.... thanks! .....
kiddo 5/11/2005 - 4:39:07 am
one time a geologist showed me a spot where you could find some plant fossils. diggin up something yourself thats like millions of years old really is kinda cool.
good luck on your final :)
good luck on your final :)

I know, its that thing the ground does when the other thing does that thing....that it does.....
The angry flagman 5/11/2005 - 8:01:03 am
The only thing i know about geology is that it has nothing to do with kidney stones.
kiddo 5/11/2005 - 8:01:21 am
i totally agree
Al 5/11/2005 - 9:32:38 am
No problem girl. Anytime you need help with scientific facts then I will do a google search for you and figure it out. Heheh.

a ufo flying over a golf course? now dont tell me you saw that happen in chitown...
Al 5/11/2005 - 10:02:33 am
Hopefully it gobbled up Tiger Woods and Alice Cooper.
mf 5/11/2005 - 3:48:07 pm
i actually was out on the green of my penthouse atop the sears tower, showing tiger some wkkd moves, when alice dropped by from his home planet to share his fresh-out-of-the-oven satan brownies. later that evening i was juggling children when yanbu showed up on his bike. he told me he found a sewer drain that suprisingly ran from grand rapids to chicago, right under the lake. we sat back and drank rum and cokes as cooper banged on a kettle drum with his eyelashes.
kiddo 5/11/2005 - 11:52:53 pm
lemme guess...you recorded all that, but on the tape theres nothing but static. when you play it backwards it sounds like a hoarse voice that recites passages from a book you havent even read yet, but are going to around christmas time

the last printed gallery ended at drawring #2454, next months gallery will be the best from that point on to here - and so many of them are incredible! i wish you could see the pile that needs to be bound to frames, it's staggering. i'll be posting an online gallery of the ones that will be on the wall, a favorites of sorts.
also - last night i built my first bookbinding press out of various pieces of hardwood, and it works great! i tested it out on 200 pages cut 4 x 4 1/2 and glued at the spine with a cover, it holds together perfectly. so real soon there will be some drawrings books available on the site! just a matter of printing them and getting them cut to size, probably by this weekend i will have 5 or more completed.

pompous percival 5/10/2005 - 2:43:27 pm
very cool yanbu! looking forward to it
yanbu 5/10/2005 - 2:53:55 pm
one thing to add - i'm having the printing and cutting done professionally so this won't be a cheap home printer style with scissors thing, should look pretty slick
lm 5/11/2005 - 2:28:54 am
nice! how do you make the books? is there an exact instruction somewhere on the web?
yanbu 5/11/2005 - 4:30:05 am
i built my frame mostly from this example: http://uazu.net/notes/binding.html
i added an adjustable / movable guide for the bottom instead of fixed so i can make different sized books if i need, and modified a few things. the contact cement i used holds super duper strong, i was opening and flipping aggressively to test it and it held up great. i used goop household contact cement, the only drawback is it doesn't flow well - too thick, i had to do a lot of smooshing and rubbing etc. i'll just have to experiment with different glues (and the goop stuff smells nasty)

oh and i made the size of the frame large enough to bind three books at once, which helps

oops
i saw the paper chase last thursday
it blew my mind
i wasn't supposed to but had to get rid off the water in my alcohol stream
when i came home, i wanted to contribute, but then i remembered i had only 4hrs to get sober and go to work so i went to bed instead
and then was the weekend and i did nothing
those goddam hands (i let them touch you)!

I didn't realize you could make scissors sharp enough to cut through bone?! Someone has seriously too much time on their hands if they are willing to cut off their own fingers.
mic 5/10/2005 - 12:33:37 pm
haha, well, i'm not trying it. i suppose it depends more on the strength of the hand in control. bricks are not very sharp either, bet you can cut some decent fingers with them too. and time
