we found the abandoned ruins of a boarding school for disabled children and we saw the places on the trees worn smooth by blind fingers

I love looking at all the urban exploration sites. Shaun O'boyle does an excellent photographic essays on urban ruins and I think there is a boarding school in his pack of photos.

if you would like to get in on this let me know, because I plan on growing this up into something gnarly & fun..so any draws as characters,levels, items made right here at 10e with a heads up in the comment box to me would be doable. ideas and music or whatever is nice as well. i think this project could add some depth to the 10E community experience...maybe down the road we can integrate it in the login and make it a playable game for us of us gamer dorks if yanbu feels that.

i'd be interested in making something that could easily implement peoples draws into the game..that you could implement your own characters or taco stands into your house..i'm currently making a map editor along with the game itself.

i am totally down with this idea, ribz. i'd love to create a character, or even a boss! do you have any ideas for size at all, like pixel guidelines or anything? if you have any ideas that you'd like tasked out let me know - also maybe we could create a board dedicated to this, to get some momentum?

i just used mf's draw as a guideline with 300x300 at any given moment, maybe just double that to make it easier on the eyes, but also make it blockier for old times sake, ya know? but anything you draw here could be fair game! just treat the oekaki window as a screen shot or whatever, maybe different versions as animations? (even though you can fit a lot in one window)

a separate board might be neat to not bother anyone but at the same time I think it would be cool to just have everything for the game coming right out of this board, for all to see. that way folks may get interested and inspired and wish to add something of their own? i think having this board overloaded with a game getting designed in the middle of it would add to the flavor here in general ya know? i guess thats just up to you!

The couple that ran this tiny shop were old back in the 80's. Old Nick died about 10 years ago and his wife carried on the business up to about a month ago. The shop was housed in the corner of the old Empire Theater and was the only business to thrive in that location. The store space was not much wider than the front counter, very small space. The building started off as a bank and then housed a theater. Back in the late 80's another theater went in and died out within the year but old nick kept going. Big business has bought the whole building and wants to turn it into office space and condos. I kinda thought it was a neat business and now its going to be renovated into oblivion. I hate big business.

it sucks to see so many smaller businesses go down, hopefully she can relocate and keep it going. i bought a few guitars and effects etc at a locally owned place rather than at guitar center, even though guitar center had them $50 - $100 cheaper. three musical instrument stores have gone down in the last five or so years here, one just last month - i'm sure because of gutiar center being able to offer just about everything way cheaper. just like walmart, etc. blech

The old woman wont reopen, She's got to be around 80 years old and I dont know if they had any kids. There used to be an old shoe store on the same block that closed down in the early 90's and the whole building sits vacant. I remember the shop owners cat used to lay in the front window. Glens Falls is a dying city and no amount of condos is going to bring it back.

I seem to have this fascination with old buildings lately, dont know why.

old stuff is great, abandoned buildings are curious. history... used books stores. i feel for you, but such is life. everything around us is going away, except for the plastic in the pacific ocean. thats here to stay
